I would liked little bit more oomph, but it's nice and easy to work with. And it looks much of like streamlined version of old one, which is good.
It's also good to have variants for different purposes and styles. Maybe there could be a logo challenge someday.

Yeah I kept it simple to keep to the original look while adding some pizzazz to it.

I would love to see a logo challenge, to see what people come up with while being thrown out of their element, that's always good.

Simple and clean is good. It's more easy to add glitter and lightning effects, if it fits on to style of cover/challenge/teaser than trying to remove them of.
